Introduction

Welcome to Tiny Shield, developed by Proxyman LLC. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data when you use our macOS application and visit our website.

About Tiny Shield

Tiny Shield is a macOS application that monitors your network traffic (HTTP, HTTPS, TCP, UDP) and provides the ability to block or stop network connections. All network monitoring and data processing occurs locally on your device.

How Tiny Shield Works

Understanding how Tiny Shield operates helps explain our privacy approach:

Network Extension Technology

  • Tiny Shield uses Apple's Network Extension framework to monitor TCP and UDP network data
  • This is Apple's official and secure method for network monitoring on macOS

System Extension Installation

  • Tiny Shield operates as a system extension, which requires installation at the system level
  • This installation is necessary to monitor network traffic effectively
  • The system extension runs with appropriate permissions but operates within Apple's security sandbox

DNS Proxy Functionality

  • We use NEDNSProxyProvider (from Apple's Network Framework) to proxy your DNS resolver
  • This allows Tiny Shield to display human-readable domain names instead of IP addresses
  • This makes the interface much easier to use and understand
  • Your DNS queries are processed locally for display purposes only

DNS Over HTTPS (DoH)

  • For DNS over HTTPS (DoH) connections, Tiny Shield parses raw bytes to extract the Server Name Indication (SNI)
  • This allows us to display the domain name even when using encrypted DNS
  • The parsing is done locally on your device
  • No data is sent to external servers during this process

Local Data Storage

  • All monitored network data is stored locally on your Mac
  • Network data is never sent to remote servers
  • Everything you see in Tiny Shield stays on your device
  • We have no access to your network traffic or the content you browse

This technical architecture ensures that your privacy is protected by design, not just by policy.
